Size Comparison Chart

I thought it would be a good idea to put together a rough size comparison chart for the charaters so that I have some reference during the animation process and the characters will be a consistent size compared to each other throughout.

Model Sheets

I have created a series of model sheets for the characters. These model sheets show the characters in various poses that will possibly feature in the animation. I will use this as a reference during the animation process. Creating the model sheets has given me an idea of how the characters will move in the finished animation.

I have now finalised the character designs and have produced a turnaround sheet for each of them.

EXT. SNOW COVERED ALASKAN LANDSCAPE - DAY

CAMERA PANS DOWN ACROSS THE LANDSCAPE TOWARDS A SNOW COVERED HILL.

NARRATOR
Here in Alaska the winter is coming to an end.

INT. POLAR BEARS UNDERGROUND DEN – DAY

A POLAR BEAR is curled up asleep. Some snow falls in from the roof of the den. Sunlight shines in and falls on BEAR. BEAR opens his eyes, sits up, stretches and yawns.

NARRATOR
Underground in his den, Bear is waking up from his winter long hibernation.

Bear looks up at the sunlight streaming in.

NARRATOR
Bear has been alone all winter and is feeling lonely. Now that he is awake he wants to go out and find himself some new friends.

BEAR stands up and walks over to the opening where the sunlight is coming in. He reaches up and begins to climb out.

EXT. SNOW COVERED HILLSIDE - DAY

CLOSE-UP OF HILLSIDE

Bears head pops out of the ground. He scrambles out.

CLOSE-UP OF BEAR.

BEAR stands up blinking and rubbing his eyes.

CLOSE UP OF THE BACK OF BEARS HEAD.CAMERA ZOOMS OUT REVEALING THE DISTANT LANDSCAPE.

BEAR stands on the hill looking out across the landscape.

NARRATOR
“I wonder where I should go to find some friends?” says Bear.

BEAR jumps of the brow of the hill.

Ollo in the Sunny Valley Fair

In this interactive story the audience control the movements of "Ollo" (a rolling blue ball with eyes) as they go on a scavenger hunt in search of special items needed to save Sunny Valley from a giant rolling tomato.

This title has a controlled story line that is divided into chapters which incorporate educational mini-games and gives its audience a chance to learn and explore. The story has great art and graphics, narration and music; a strong story line with well developed characters and activities within the story are designed to help children develop new skills

I came across these next two interactive stories at http://www.wheredidtherivergo.co.uk/. The artwork is great in these stories and the interactive elements allow you to customise and personalise the story as you go.

In this part of the story you can alter the text and customise the character.

Here you can drag different items into the picnic basket.

Again you can choose different objects to be used in the story.

Here you can choose different ways to decorate the room.

The interactions are quite simple and don't change the outcome of the story but they do give the audience a feeling of involvement and the ability to alter the visual appearance of some elements which makes the story seem more personal.
